Mr. Jash Raj Subba bornon June 17, 1946 in a tribal family of religious Phedangma priesthood Late Dhan Man Subba and Suk Maya Subba of Hee or she, West Sikkim, is a prolific writer and critic of this region. He completed his early education at Hee Yangthang School and Pelling High School, West Sikkim. He studied St. Joseph College, North Point and Government Degree College, Darjeeling, West Bengal. He did his B. Sc. Agriculture from Solan Agriculture College (1973), Himachal Pradesh and M. Sc. Agriculture from I.A.R.I., New Delhi (1975).

After his post graduation in Agricultural Science, he joined Agriculture Service in the Government of Sikkim in 1975. He attended short courses "Improving Extension Management" at Illinois University at Urbana Campaign INTERPARKS, USA in 1996, and Human Resource Development in Agriculture study held at Taipei, Taiwan in 2000. He also worked as consultant of FAO/ICIMOD on SARD-M (Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development in Mountainous Region) in Sikkim (representing India) and is an expert in farming systems in the mountainous region. He held a number of posts in 32 years of his Government Service and retired as Principal Director of Agriculture in 2007.

Besides, he is an active member of SYSS (Sukhim Yakthung Sapsok Songjumbho), an apex organization of the Limboo community of Sikkim, and held the post of President of the organization from 2000 to 2006. He contributed a lot on the social aspect forcommunity specially on religion.
